Going without water isn’t just inconvenient—it can affect every part of daily lifePerson holding glass under faucet without waterImagine a Day Without WaterWhat would you do if you turned on the faucet tomorrow morning and nothing came out? You wouldn’t have water to make your morning coffee or tea or wash your fruit and vegetables. You also wouldn’t be able to shower, bathe, or brush your teeth. The toilet wouldn’t flush, the dishwasher wouldn’t run, and the washing machine wouldn’t work, either. Water plays a role in nearly every part of life, from the food you eat and the beverages you drink to the clothes you wear and the products you use daily. But losing your water supply would affect so much more than your daily routines. On October 15, communities across the country will participate in Imagine a Day Without Water. This annual campaign highlights how essential reliable water service is—not just to personal health and safety, but also the health and safety of your community, the environment, and the economy. GovDel HeaderNew OIG Audit Released on USPS’s Mail Theft Mitigation in SeattleMail Theft VegasCertain parts of the country are hit hard by mail theft, and the USPS OIG is responding by conducting specialized audits those areas. Our latest audit looked at the Postal Service’s actions to mitigate and respond to mail theft in the Seattle, WA, area. We found issues with the tracking, safeguarding, managing, and reporting of arrow keys and modified arrow lock keys at the two facilities we visited. These deficiencies left mail receptacles across seven ZIP Codes in Seattle at risk for mail theft. Our report made six recommendations to USPS and Postal Inspection Service management to address the issues we found. You will find more details in our report.Read Full ReportYou are subscribed to the feed for the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
